136 137 Annual Report 2021 TROPICANA CORPORATION BERHAD SUSTAINABILITY AT TROPICANA As we continue to manage the repercussions of the pandemic, we strive to play our part in protecting the livelihood of the community. To achieve this, a large portion of our charitable funds was dedicated to supporting healthcare facilities and organisations that were directly involved in treating, managing and vaccination against the COVID-19 virus. For further information on this form of contribution, please refer to Page 114 of our Sustainability Statement. • • Funding for the acquisition of medical equipment donated to healthcare facilities (i.e. 10 medical beds and 10 new wheelchairs to respective associations) • • Provided facility for COVID-19 vaccination drive – Tropicana Gardens Mall Convention Centre at Kota Damansara • • Hosted the Program Vaksin Selangor (“SelVax”) for the general public and Tropicana’s employees Although it is always worthwhile to provide monetary contributions, we do our best to remain cognisant to the needs of society by understanding their concerns and expectations. A portion of our donation initiatives included provisions for daily essentials such as food and household products to assist the underprivileged in improving their living conditions. • • More than 1,300 care packs distributed to employees • • Provided living essentials in the form of fresh produce and school supplies to five orphanages (Rumah Kasih, Rukes, Pusat Jagaan Kasih Harapan, Rumah Sentuhan Budi and Pusat Jagaan Telaga Kasih Nur Muhammad) • • Distributed fishes to 628 underprivileged families through Uncle Kentang’s charitable initiative • • Worked with Greenhouse Farm & Fishery and Purple Pumpkie to distribute fresh fish and vegetables to charity homes Tropicana Foundation is funded by the Group and our subsidiaries to ensure that the foundation has sufficient capital to carry out charitable activities that serve to develop local communities. We strive to conduct corporate social activities that are in line with key areas that represent the goals of Tropicana Foundation. • • Conducted fundraising for dry goods through Buggy of Joy. The collected goods were donated to charity homes as well as flood victims. • • Thai Odyssey - proceeds from cookies sale to be channeled to Tropicana Foundation to help the underprivileged • • Blood donation drive at Experiential Hall in March and September 2021 to support the National Blood Bank Heavy rains and prolonged monsoon seasons exacerbated by climate change resulted in devastating floods in Malaysia during FY2021. Affected states include Pahang, Johor and Selangor where widespread damage to personal properties and public facilities were observed. Tropicana was quick to provide necessary contributions to organisations that were involved in the post-flood clean-up which included living essentials and financial support. • • Yayasan Setia Negara, Pusat Khidmat Rakyat Penyelaras Ampang and Bentong Relief Squad - Tropicana Foundation provided relief to flood victims by contributing dry goods, drinking water; pillow, towel and blanket sets • • 25 units Khind 16” Stand fan as flood reflief for Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya staff • • 230 food packs to Pusat Kawalan Operasi Bencana Daerah Langkawi, Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Komuniti Kampung Ewa, Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Anjung Kasih Daerah Langkawi COVID-19 Living Essentials Subsidiary Contributions for CSR Activities Flood Aid One of the core focus areas of Tropicana Foundation is to support youth development through education.
