Introduction to Financial Statements
Financial Statements are the statements that present a company’s financial performance and position for a particular period. Financial statements are like report cards of a company that are presented to shareholders. The financial statements consist of four basic types:
Financial statements could be audited or unaudited.
Public listed companies in Malaysia need to announce their quarterly financial results within 2 months from the end of the financial quarter. The quarterly results are unaudited.
According to Bursa Malaysia’s guidelines, once the audited financial statements are issued, the public listed company must announce any material deviations should the audited profit after taxation and minority shareholders differ from the unaudited figures by 10% or more.
