Tropicana Corporation Berhad Annual Report 2021

Here, Tropicana’s Chairman Tan Sri Dato' Sri Mohamad Fuzi Bin Harun shares with us the confidence he has on the Group’s expansion and growth through its dynamic property portfolio and how this will help sustain and steer the Group forward. Q1: Moving into the second year since COVID-19 upended our lives, how is the Group positioned to rise above this challenging climate? A: What is clear is the recovery we are experiencing now with the easing of restrictions as most economic sectors have reopened and the interstate travel ban lifted. The pandemic has definitely highlighted the importance of adaptability and presented us with a new landscape that calls for constant innovation. In that respect, what continues to propel us forward is our agile management team. They keep abreast of key developments and are quick to adapt to changing market conditions. While we remain cautiously optimistic, we do believe that there is still pent-up demand for well-planned developments, particularly those in strategic and well-connected locations, and this will remain the Group’s main focus. Despite these positive sentiments, we will continue to ensure the sustainability of the Group. Q2: How has Tropicana, as a brand, stood the test of time? A: Since our establishment in 1979, Tropicana has evolved and transformed with the times. Frompioneering the flagship Tropicana Golf & Country Resort in Petaling Jaya to changing the property landscapes in Tropicana Indah, Kota Damansara, Subang, Kota Kemuning, Kajang, and Cheras, we have also ventured into Penang, Kedah, Pahang, Johor, and Sabah. Today, we continue to grow with stronger brand equity because we have kept ourselves agile and innovative, which has enabled us to evolve and enter new markets over the years. We are truly humbled and thankful for Tropicana’s achievements. With the support of our founder, Tan Sri Dato’ Tan Chee Sing, the Board of Directors, and the management team, I am certain of Tropicana’s continued growth. Q3: Moving forward, please share with us the importance of offline to online engagement. A: Pleased to note that Tropicana will continue to accelerate and improve its digital platforms across the entire Tropicana ecosystem. Since the launch of the Tropicana 360 app, the Group has continuously improved the app’s performance for better customer experience and journey. As part of the Group’s offline to online activation efforts, we are also putting in place the right digital technology to give us that competitive edge as we optimise operations and maximise efficiency to perform better and unlock a host of business potentials. It includes improving on our e-strategies to effectively manage our internal and external supply chains. As the pandemic loosens its grip on the economy with the rise in vaccination rollouts, the global economy is set on gradual recovery mode. In Malaysia, the swift implementation of economic policy support measures was a boost to the economy despite the country being hit by a series of COVID-19 waves and various restriction movements. Pleased to note that despite the challenges, the Group continues to stay resilient.
