We believe that our people are the foundation and strength that allows Tropicana to reach the success that it has achieved and hold the potential to propel the Group to greater heights. Therefore, we continuously work towards creating a conducive working environment by empowering our workforce through fair practices and inclusivity while rejecting any form of discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, age and creed. Our Diverse and Inclusive Team As of 31 December 2021, we employed a total of 917 employees – close to a 10% increase in workforce compared to FY2020 (835 employees). Despite the adverse impact on job availability during the pandemic, the Group continued to add to our talent pool to ensure that our business continues to operate at the best level of efficiency and productivity. Well aware of our role as a strong industry player, we believe it is our responsibility to contribute towards developing the national economy as well as uplifting the livelihood of fellow Malaysians. As such, we prioritised on hiring local talents to develop their careers up to global standards that the Group align ourselves with. With regard to employing creative minds that can contribute innovative input, the Group believes in hiring talent that span across a wide age range to achieve a good balance of new ideas and seasoned experiences. Many of whom held Management and Executive level positions within the Group. We continue to endorse initiatives that prioritises gender equality and career opportunities based on merit. Retaining Our Talent We welcomed 245 new permanent employees during FY2021 – a 36% increase in hires from the previous reporting year (FY2020: 180). This is attributed to Tropicana’s healthy business expansion which has added more opportunities into the job market. The Group also closely monitored the attrition rates of our employees to ensure that we retain our talent without compromising on quality of skills and experience. We look to retain our talents and attract new ones by offering competitive compensation packages and benefits along with a conducive working environment that emphasises on fair practices and continuous learning.
