Tropicana Corporation Berhad Annual Report 2021

TROPICANA FOUNDATION Over the last 30 years, Tropicana’s Founder, Tan Sri Dato’ Tan Chee Sing has been the key driver and backbone of all charity initiatives and he did so, anonymously. In 2011, Tropicana Foundation was established, dedicated to improving the lives of the underprivileged community apart from supporting social and environmental causes. The Foundation funds a range of programmes around Malaysia, from the foodbank, health, education, and recycling to employees’ engagement. Now, reinvigorated with a refreshed logo, Tropicana Foundation remains committed to its causes as stated in the founding charter of the Foundation, which affirms that resources should be used “for health, educational, social and charitable purposes”. In 2021, the Foundation has contributed more than RM3.6 million in cash and in-kind to various underprivileged homes, organisations, and associations across Malaysia. Talent pool is also at the very heart of the Tropicana Foundation. Every day, we take responsibility for the people who work for and with us. We also take seriously the environmental, social, and governance (“ESG”) framework and we are determined to make a difference by adopting the ESG approach in our overall business models to ensure sustainable business practices. INTERNAL EMPLOYEES ENGAGEMENT The members of Tropicana are a close-knit family, and in caring for our 1,300-strong workforce around the country, the Tropicana Foundation runs various initiatives for the welfare of our employees. We are guided by our people, first and foremost. We believe in nurturing our most valuable assets, providing yearly training on a diverse range of topics. We also have available a host of employee benefits including additional perks such as team building sessions and birthday treats. In living with the pandemic, we have also adopted various measures to prioritise and safeguard the health and safety of our people. Face masks are provided, hand sanitisers are readily available and sanitisation is carried out regularly at the workplace. Vaccination was provided for all employees at the Convention Centre in Tropicana Gardens Mall, which served as one of the five large vaccination centres (“PPV”) in Selangor for the Program Vaksin Selangor (“SelVax”).
