40 WASCO BERHAD SECTION 3 VALUE CREATION VALUE CREATION MODEL NATURAL CAPITAL Wasco’s sustainability journey is rooted in responsible resource management and a strong commitment to reducing our environmental footprint. As the Group expands, we focus on three key priorities: increasing our renewable energy mix, conserving water resources, and advancing reforestation initiatives that restore biodiversity and ecological balance. Operational expansion vs. environmental impact: As our global footprint grows, so does our energy consumption. We address this by progressively increasing the share of renewable energy mix in our operations and implementing energy-efficiency measures across our facilities, ensuring that business growth does not come at the expense of our environmental commitments. Short-term resource consumption vs. long-term conservation: Operating large-scale fabrication and coating facilities requires significant resource consumption. We mitigate this through water harvesting initiatives, responsible material sourcing, and ongoing investments in environmental stewardship, balancing operational demands with our long-term conservation goals. Our Approach Trade-Offs N • Increase the renewable energy mix across all operations to progressively reduce our carbon footprint in line with our pathway to carbon neutrality. • Advance freshwater conservation through expanded rainwater harvesting and water efficiency initiatives across our global facilities. • Scale reforestation efforts through the Wasco Forest Phase 2 initiative in Pahang, expanding biodiversity restoration across a larger ecological footprint. • Strengthen environmental stewardship across our supply chain, reinforcing responsible resource management beyond our direct operations. 2025 Focus • Renewable Energy Integration: 35% of our operational energy mix is now sourced from renewable energy, reflecting steady progress towards our carbon neutrality pathway. • Freshwater Conservation: 6% of our total water consumption is derived from harvested rainwater, reducing our reliance on freshwater sources across our global facilities. • Wasco Forest Phase 2 Launch: Launched Phase 2 of the Wasco Forest initiative in Pahang, expanding the project to 770 hectares with an ambition to plant one million trees. Over three years, 160,000 native trees have been replanted across 100 hectares, with a Rapid Biodiversity Assessment confirming the return of endangered wildlife, including the Asian Elephant, Malayan Tapir, and Dhole. • Carbon Neutrality Pathway: Continued advancing our carbon neutrality strategy through renewable energy adoption, energy-efficiency improvements, and nature-based climate solutions across our global operations.
