214 NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS (CONT’D) For the financial year ended 31 January 2023 YINSON HOLDINGS BERHAD | INTEGRATED ANNUAL REPORT 2023 2. Summary of significant accounting policies (continued) 2.18 Derivative financial instruments (continued) (b) Cash flow hedge (continued) IBOR reform (continued) The Group has applied the following reliefs provided by the Amendments to MFRS 9 and MFRS 7 ‘Interest Rate Benchmark Reform—Phase 2’: • Hedge designation: When the Phase 1 amendments cease to apply, the Group will amend its hedge designation to reflect changes which are required by IBOR reform, but only to make one or more of the following changes: (a) designating an alternative benchmark rate (contractually or non-contractually specified) as a hedged risk; (b) amending the description of the hedged item, including the description of the designated portion of the cash flows or fair value being hedged; or (c) amending the description of the hedging instrument. The Group amends its hedge documentation to reflect this change in designation by the end of the reporting period in which the changes are made. These amendments to the hedge documentation do not require the Group to discontinue its hedge relationships. (c) Net investment hedge Hedges of net investments in foreign operations are accounted for similarly to cash flow hedges. Any gain or loss on the hedging instrument relating to the effective portion of the hedge is recognised in other comprehensive income and accumulated in reserves within equity. The gain or loss relating to the ineffective portion is recognised immediately in profit or loss. Gains and losses accumulated in equity are reclassified to profit or loss when the foreign operation is disposed or partially disposed of. 2.19 Inventories Inventories are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value. Purchase costs and other costs incurred in bringing the spare parts to its present location and condition are accounted for on a weighted average cost basis. Net realisable value is the estimated selling price in the ordinary course of business, less estimated costs of completion and the estimated costs necessary to make the sale.
