EN 1998 Eurocode 8 applies to the design and construction of buildings and other civil engineering works in seismic regions. Its purpose is to ensure that in the event of earthquakes: 1. In Malaysia, regulations are already in place for the design of building structures to withstand seismic activity. The construction standard for seismic resistance for building structures is the National Annex to Eurocode 8 (EC8), o cially known as MS EN 1998-1:2015.
