Serba Dinamik Annual Report 2021

Section 6 | Sustainability Statement 202 CLIMATE CHANGE To assert our commitment towards sustainability, Datuk Abdul Kadier Sahib the co-founder and member of the board of directors of Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad personally oversees the adherence to environmental standards across our operations. To this end, our latest constructed facility, Bintulu Integrated Energy Hub (BIEH) is certified with a Green Building Index from GBI Malaysia. Green buildings are designed to save energy and resources, recycle materials, and minimise emission of toxic substances over the long-term. We designed our BIEH with green building features including rain water harvesting, energy efficient lighting and glass windows for natural lighting. We also imposed restrictions on resource consumption and waste management measures in our policies to minimise our waste production and to ensure prudent use of resources. As a result, the total produced waste of all kinds generated locally does not exceed 7 MT during FPE2021. As a maintenance service provider, we generate scheduled wastes that require proper disposal. Scheduled wastes contain hazardous materials and can potentially affect public health and/or the environment adversely. Types of scheduled waste that we generate includes waste containing mercury, spent lubricating oil, hydraulic oil and thermal fluids, and contaminated containers and rags. In FPE2021, we recorded 6.62 tonnes of scheduled waste for our Malaysia operations. These scheduled wastes were packaged, labeled and then deposited at facilities licensed by the Department of Environment in accordance with local guidelines and regulations. Scheduled Waste 4.50 SW 305 (Spent lubricating oil) SW 409 (Contaminated containers) SW 410 (Contaminated rags) Scheduled Waste Generated (MT) 0.41 1.71 Data above covers our service centres in Malaysia.
