Datasonic Group Berhad Annual Report 2024

STATEMENT SUSTAINABILITY ANNUAL REPORT 2024 55 Pollution and Resources (Materials) We seek to maximise resource efficiency across the Group. For our manufacturing operations at PJ 223, paper and plastic are the primary raw materials utilised, while manufacturing activities in Klang mainly uses polycarbonate (“PC”), and polyvinyl chloride (“PVC”). We continually evaluate our material choices as we explore more sustainable alternatives. We also embrace initiatives like reusing corrugated boxes to minimise waste. While the nature of our business does not generate significant pollution, we remain resolute in lowering our environmental impact. Our printing processes in Klang emit pollutants such as particulate matter, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and non-methane volatile organic compounds (“NMVOC”). At the Group’s Klang facility, we have instituted a policy to avoid pollution of land, air, water, and noise. Apart from that, we have installed activated carbon filters to remove contaminants from the air emissions released during our operations. We also appoint an external service provider to assess our air emissions. Biodiversity Conservation Biodiversity – the vast array of life forms on this planet – underpins the health and resilience of our ecosystems, providing essential services like clean air, water purification, and climate regulation. While our operations do not directly impact areas of exceptionally rich biodiversity, we at Datasonic recognise its critical role for the planet’s health. In this respect, we contribute to broader conservation efforts through responsible business practices across the Group. We strive not only to mitigate any potential adverse effects on biodiversity, but also to contribute to its overall preservation. OUR PROGRESS In FY2024, there were zero major incidents involving fines or non-monetary sanctions for non-compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
