PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES The principal activities of the Company are investment holding and provision of management services. The principal activities of the subsidiaries, associate and joint ventures are disclosed in Notes 18, 19 and 20 to the financial statements respectively. There have been no significant changes in the nature of these principal activities during the financial year. DIVIDENDS The amount of dividends paid by the Company since 31 December 2016 were as follows: RM’000 In respect of the financial year ended 31 December 2016: First interim single-tier dividend of 2.5 sen per ordinary share of RM 1.00 each, declared on 24 November 2016 and paid on 24 February 2017 35,686 Second interim single-tier share dividend paid by way of distribution of treasury shares on the basis of 1.2 treasury shares for every 100 existing ordinary shares held in the Company. The share dividend was declared on 28 March 2017 and 17,343,793 ordinary shares were credited into entitled depositors’ securities accounts on 28 April 2017 17,344 In respect of the financial year ended 31 December 2017: First interim single-tier dividend of 2 sen per ordinary share declared on 21 August 2017 and paid on 10 November 2017 29,189 The directors do not recommend a final dividend in respect of the financial year ended 31 December 2017. On 22 January 2018, the Board of Directors declared a first interim single-tier dividend of 1.6 sen per ordinary share in respect of the financial year ending 31 December 2018. The dividend was paid on 22 February 2018 to the shareholders and will be accounted for as distributions to owners in the financial year ending 31 December 2018.
