At Tropicana, sustainable business practices have been continuously embedded across our organisation as we recognise that it does not only strengthen business performance, but also unlocks long-term value for our stakeholders and communities around us. From designing quality homes that reflect the changing lifestyles of homeowners to building talent within the Group, we understand the importance of futureproofing our business and making a positive difference in the lives of those we come in contact with. When we design places and spaces, for us it is more than just looking at the structural outlook of the building. We strive to not only meet the needs of customers but to also create communities where people aspire to live in, a place they are proud to call home. Guided by our unique Tropicana DNA, we focused our efforts on creating vibrant communities, maximising green spaces, establishing good infrastructure, amenities and facilities as well as ensuring our residents are living in a safe and secure setting. Throughout the whole development process, we made sure we minimised our impact on the environment. In positioning our business for the future, we have also worked on developing talent within our organisation by implementing human capital development programmes that address the needs of our employees at every level of the Group. As we have seen the shift amongst consumers for more green-living features, we need to ensure that our workforce is equipped with the right skills and best practices to meet the growing diverse needs of customers and the industry on the whole. This Sustainability Statement serves as a platform to communicate transparently to our stakeholders on our initiatives based on the three key pillars of sustainability – Economic, Environment and Social (“EES”). These three pillars form the foundation for our focus areas, namely Economic Performance, Product and Services Responsibility, Employee Management, Talent Development, Community Engagement and Environmental Initiatives. We remain focused on realising our sustainability journey as we understand our ability to do so will reflect positively on our business performance, unlock value for our stakeholders and strengthen relationships with the communities we are creating for future generations. ABOUT THIS STATEMENT Tropicana’s Sustainability Statement will be published annually together with our Annual Report. The information and performance data presented henceforth concentrates on Tropicana’s sustainability efforts and commitments over the past 12 months from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017, which coincides with Tropicana’s financial year ended 31 December 2017, unless otherwise specified. This statement covers Tropicana Corporation Berhad as a Group in Malaysia, as outlined in the Corporate Structure on page 9 of this Annual Report. The performance data presented does not include operations in which Tropicana does not have managerial control. This Sustainability Statement has been prepared in accordance with Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad’s (“Bursa Malaysia”) Sustainability Reporting Guidelines and Main Market Listing Requirements.
