Further to the announcement by MYEG dated 12 May 2020 on the launch of a one-stop portal for employers to manage the COVID-19 screening for their workforce, the Board of Directors of MYEG (“the Board”) notes the Press Statement issued by the Social Security Organisation (“SOCSO”) on 13 May 2020 stating that it has not established any cooperation with MYEG for the implementation of the Prihatin Screening Programme.
The Board wishes to clarify that MYEG did not enter into a collaboration with SOCSO in regards to the launch of its one-stop portal for employers to manage COVID-19 screening for their workforce.
The Board wishes to clarify further that the Department of Labour, Peninsular Malaysia (“the Department”) had in a letter to MYEG dated 8 May 2020, expressed its support for MYEG’s initiative to launch a one-stop portal and digital certificate related to the Prihatin Screening Programme to enable the Department to monitor compliance and aid enforcement actions with detailed implementation steps to be worked out.
MYEG’s one-stop portal and digital certificate initiative is a private initiative to provide Malaysian employers a more convenient option to manage matters pertaining to COVID-19 screening, including engaging the services of MYEG to help ascertain the eligibility of their workers for the Prihatin Screening Programme and to subsequently arrange for on-site testing at their own business premises to be carried out by clinics that are on SOCSO’s panel. In this connection, SOCSO is presently not a direct partner in this private initiative. Upon completion of the tests, a digital testing certificate will be issued that is recognised by the Department for monitoring and enforcement purposes, in line with the requirements set by the Government for businesses to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Should there be any further material developments on the above matter, the Board will release the necessary announcements in a timely manner to Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
This announcement is dated 13 May 2020.
